Girishkarnad
Girishkarnad is a contemporary writer , playwriter , actor , a creative figure and movie directer in kannada language . He was born on May, 19 1938 Matheran in Maharashtra. His initial schooling was in Marathi. He earned his bachelors of Arts degree from Karnataka University , Dharwad in 1958. After graduation he went to Englend and studied at Lincon and Magdelen college of Oxford as a Rhodes scholer earning his Master of Arts degree. He was a Visiting Professor and Fulbright Scholer in Resident at the Chicago University . From 1970 to 1972 he was a bhabha fellow.
Initially karnad wanted to be a poet but luck would have it he was destineted to be a playwright . As a playwright he has given noteworthy work to the literature. He is also active in the world if cinema working as an actor, director, scriptwriter,earning numberous awards along the way.He was conferred Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by the government of India.
